Mallards Add Rookie Netminder

Moline, IL-The Quad Mallards announced today that the team has signed goaltender Zach Sikich. Sikich joins the team after competing with six teams in four leagues last season. To make room for Sikich on the roster, the team waived goaltender Ben Gray.

Last season, Sikich played in the Ligue Nord-Americaine de Hockey, the United Hockey League, Southern Professional League and ECHL. He made his pro debut with the Motor City Mechanics in the spring of 2005 after completing his college career at St. Thomas College.

Sikich's played college hockey for one year at the Air Force Academy and three years at St. Thomas College. During his collegiate career, he went 36-18-7 with a 2.71 goals against average and a .907 save percentage.

Gray leaves the Quad Cities after playing one game in relief of Jason Tapp.

The Mallards are home on Friday night to host the Chicago Hounds for the first time ever. Mel Foster, the Mallards and The MARK are collecting phone cards for troops. To participate, fans can deposit phone cards (good for 90 minutes or more) into the footlocker located at the new Mallards Team Store at The MARK. The cards will then be distributed to soldiers both domestically and overseas. This campaign kicks off this weekend and will continue until December 15th. All fans that participate will receive two Mallards tickets for the price of one.
