Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. (November 4, 2010) - The Quad City Mallards of the "AA" Central Hockey League today announced they have activated defenseman Adam Maccarone and have placed defenseman Bobby Preece on ten day injured reserved.

Maccarone, 23, returns to the active roster after being sidelined by a back injury. The Whitby, Ontario, native was placed on injured reserve shortly after signing with the Mallards last month. Maccarone, who has yet to see game action for the Flock, split last season- his rookie year- between the International Hockey League's Port Huron Icehawks and Dayton Gems. The 6' 1", 210-pound Maccarone scored four times and totaled 11 points in 55 games with the Icehawks and picked up five assists in 19 games with the Gems.

Maccarone got his first taste of pro hockey when he joined the CHL's Tulsa Oilers for six games at the end of the 2008-09 season. Before turning pro Maccarone spent three years at Wilfrid Laurier University, for whom he scored twice and registered 13 points in 56 career games. Mallards defenseman Tyler Townsend was a university teammate of Maccarone's for two seasons- 2007-08 and 2008-09.

Preece, a 25-year old rookie, has been forced out of the lineup by a sore knee. The Bonita Springs, Florida, native has picked up one assist and posted a plus/minus rating of +1 in six games this season.

Preece scored eight goals and totaled 25 points while also registering 118 penalty minutes in 33 games as a senior at Bentley University last season. Over four years at Bentley Preece notched 12 goals and 57 points in 126 games. In 2008-09 the 6' 2", 205-pound Preece collected 24 points while helping Bentley to the best season in the Falcons' 11-year Division I history.

Before beginning his collegiate career Preece spent three seasons in the junior ranks with the North American Hockey League's Fargo-Moorhead Jets.
