Majors and Rollins Named Players of the Week

Omaha, Nebraska - The Omaha Beef of the United Indoor Football Association (UIF) is pleased to announce that Beef quarterback Andy Majors has been named UIF Offensive Player of the Week and Beef running back/kick returner RJ Rollins has been named UIF Special Teams Player of the Week for their efforts this past weekend vs. Rock River.
Andy Majors received his first start of the 2006 season for the Beef at the quarterback position and he did not disappoint. Majors proved his ability in Week 11 when he led a fourth quarter comeback against the Sioux Falls Storm by rushing for two touchdowns in the final minutes at the QB position and brought the Beef to within two points. Andy only threw 11 passes and completed on 7 of the attempts for four touchdowns and 108-yards in the win vs. the Raptors. Majors also rushed for one score as well. Majors helped lead the offense to a scoring summary that consisted of 14 drives and 12 scores. This was the second time that the Beef have beaten the Raptors this season.
For the second time this season, RJ Rollins receives player of the week honors; but this time it's for Special Teams. Rollins returned four kick-offs against the Raptors and totaled 133-yards and returned one for a touchdown. On the night he totaled 223 all-purpose yardage as he also rushed for 90-yards and one TD. On the season Rollins is tied for the most touchdowns in the UIF with Randy Bell of Rock River with 20 Rollins is only the second kick returner this season to receive Special Teams Player of the Week.
Beef Head Coach Robert Fuller says, "Individual awards can be directly tied to team success and both Andy and RJ came up big in our victory over the Raptors. Their success on the field is a reflection of how hard they work in practice."
Omaha continues its run to the playoffs in Bloomington, Ill. this Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:05 PM and can only be heard online at www.1620thezone.com. The Beef will return home for their final regular season home game July 8th.
