MAINEiacs Profile: Antoine Houde-Caron
December 1, 2010 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release
Antoine Houde-Caron may be new to the MAINEiacs, but he's no stranger to the QMJHL. At 20 years old, Houde-Caron comes to Maine from Shawinigan, where he played from 2007 to 2009. The 5'11, 180 pound left wing has been a solid player for this team, with 17 points on the season to date. He fills the role of assistant captain well and has been a constant force out on the ice this year. Houde-Caron started to play hockey at the tender age of three, looking up to veteran winger Mark Recchi. Today, he has become a Nicklas Backstrom fan or you can find him cheering on his favorite team, the Montreal Canadiens.
Acquired last year in the draft/trade period, he is happy to be playing in Lewiston. "I really enjoy it since I'm here. I like the place and people are very nice." His parents have made the trek to Lewiston a couple of times this year and he also speaks very highly of his billets, Leo and Germaine. He says he has more responsibilities playing here than he had in Shawinigan, but he seems to be a natural in the role of assistant captain and is eager to lead by example. He is also becoming a fan favorite with his friendly nature and good sense of humor. For young kids with big dreams to play in the QMJHL, Houde-Caron offers the following advice, "Always keep your goals in your mind and do the sacrifices to get there."
