Aberdeen Wings News Release
After a devastating 4-3 loss the night before, the Wings were back on home ice taking on the Minnesota Magicians. Wings fans came out in force with 1,523 in attendance. The outcome however would be harsh, with a 5-2 loss.
Wings forward #23 Jackson Graalum (F-Fargo, ND) would strike first with a goal thanks to assists from #21 Bjorn Sigurdarson (F-Reykjavik, Iceland) and #17 Will Hammer (F-St. Cloud, MN). The 1-0 lead would be short lived as the Magicians would score shortly after with a goal from Rueschoff tying it 1-1. Towards the end of the period, the Magicians would get another goal from Krusko one-on-one against Wings goaltender #30 Luke Kania (G-Chicago, IL).
With a 2-1 lead, the Magicians would not hold up in the second period. At the 8:41 mark, they would get a goal from Jackson making it 3-1. The Magicians controlled the puck much of the 2nd period, not allowing very good scoring opportunities while only taking 6 shots in the period. The Wings struggled to bury rebounds and chip shots at the net, while Magicians goaltender #1 Vaughan Ahrens was solid.
In the third period, the scoring would continue. Magicians would go up 4-1 after a goal from Milekhin. On the power play, the Wings would finally get another tally on the board. Wings forward #8 Drew Doyon (F-Indianapolis, IN) would find the net with assist from #10 Tanner Okeson (D-Roseau, MN). With 2:30 left in the game, the Magicians would seal the game with an empty net goal ending the weekend series with a sweep and a 5-2 win on Saturday night.
