PHOENIX - Ezi Magbegor scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds while rookie guard Kitija Laksa added 13 points off the bench to lead Seattle to an 88-71 win over Phoenix in a preseason game on Saturday at Phoenix Suns Arena.

Magbegor helped the Storm (1-0) pull away in a close game, scoring five points in the final 27 seconds of the first half including a three-point play with 1.4 seconds left. Those points capped an 8-0 Seattle run which turned a 40-39 deficit into a 47-40 halftime lead for the Storm, who would not trail the rest of the way.

Laksa, a first-round pick for the Storm in 2020, scored 13 points in 13 minutes in her Seattle debut, hitting 5-of-10 from the field including going 3-of-4 from three-point range.

Candice Dupree, who spent seven seasons in Phoenix from 2010-2016, scored 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting and netted five rebounds.

The Storm held Phoenix to just 32.8% shooting (20-61) and 22.7% from three-point range (5-22) while forcing 14 turnovers and recording five blocks.

The two teams meet again in Seattle on Monday for a closed scrimmage. The Storm then open the regular season on Saturday, May 15, hosting Las Vegas at 12 p.m. PT on ABC at Angel Of The Winds Arena in Everett, Wash.

Please Note: Due to a scorekeeping error, Breanna Stewart is listed as having played 2:08 in the game. However, she did not make the trip.
