Bradenton Marauders News Release
BRADENTON, Fla. - In the first contest of the final series of the year between the Bradenton Marauders and the Charlotte Stone Crabs, Bligh Madris lifted the home side while leading off the bottom of the ninth inning, as Bradenton claimed their fourth consecutive game after a weekend sweep at Jupiter leading up to Tuesday's contest.
Charlotte and its league-leading offensive attack wasted no time in getting on the board, striking for a run in the first when catcher Rene Pinto doubled to drive in a run to put the road side immediately on top. After the Stone Crabs plated another run on the fourth inning, Bradenton waited until the final third of the game before scoring in the home half of the seventh. Hunter Owen doubled and Bligh Madris singled behind him, and both were brought around on a pickoff error and Jason Delay's first triple of the season to tie the game at 2, the eventual score heading in to the bottom of the ninth inning. Bligh Madris struck for his second hit of the game, a line drive shot over the wall in right field for his third walk off-hit of the season and the club's first on a homer.
On the hill, LHP Domingo Robles turned in his second solid start of his first three with the Marauders by tossing six innings while allowing two runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts which equaled his total from his prior two outings combined. RHP Adam Oller and LHP Jordan Jess combined to throw the final three innings without allowing a run while Jess struck out two of the three batters he faced in his lone inning of work in the ninth to set up the Madris long ball.
The Marauders continue their final three game series of the year against the Stone Crabs on Wednesday at 6:30, with RHP Pedro Vasquez throwing for Bradenton and RHP Brian Shaffer is scheduled for Charlotte.
