KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Jeremy Walker picked up on the mound where Tucker Davidson left off, by tossing at least seven inning of shutout ball in the series opener against the Jupiter Hammerheads on Tuesday night at a rain-soaked Osceola County Stadium. The right-hander set a season-high with nine punchouts on the night, besting his previous mark of seven.

With the win, the Fire Frogs established a franchise record with their 49th victory of 2018, and are now three wins shy of 100.

Walker (4-11) tallied his first strikeout of the game against Stone Garrett to end the opening inning. The Gardner-Webb product set down the opposing left fielder on strikes three times on Tuesday.

Tuesday's starter picked up the seventh punchout on Michael Hernandez for the second out of the fifth. The 6-foot-5 hurler earned his eighth against Garret to finish off the sixth, and set his new season-high by freezing Casey Bird for the second out in the seventh.

The 2016 draft pick scattered four hits through his seven innings, while walking just one to go along with the nine strikeouts. Tuesday was Walker's team-leading 11th quality start of the season.

Florida (20-34, 48-71) struck early against Brady Puckett (5-1) in the opening inning. Drew Waters (1x4, R) singled to start the night for the offense, and moved up to second on a single to left from CJ Alexander (3x4, R, HR, RBI). William Contreras (1x3, BB) drew a walk to bring up Braxton Davidson (1x4, RBI) with the bags full, and smoked an RBI single to left field for the 1-0 lead.

The Fire Frogs used a two-out rally to add an insurance run in the fourth. Garrison Schwartz (0x2, R, BB) extended the inning with a walk, and advanced to third with Isranel Wilson's (1x3) base knock to center. Marcus Mooney (1x3, RBI) brought the runner home with a single cracked into right for the two-run edge.

Alexander capped off his third three-hit performance with a solo shot to right to lead off the eighth to provide a three-run cushion.

Chase Johnson-Mullins exited the game with two on, two outs and a run across in the final frame, and Brandon White (SV, 1) locked down the victory by striking out Hernandez.

Florida will go for its first series victory since taking two of three from the Clearwater Threshers from July 13-15 in game two of the three-game series against Jupiter (25-30, 65-38) at Osceola County Stadium on Wednesday night. RHP Walter Borkovich (1-0, 0.00) takes his perfect start to his High-A career out to the mound in the middle match against RHP Josh Roeder (5-4, 3.41). First pitch is scheduled for 6:31 p.m., with coverage starting at 6:15 p.m. with the Florida Fire Frogs Pre-game Show on the Florida Fire Frogs Broadcasting Network.
