Madrid Returns as Cats Bats Crack Silver So
June 18, 2008 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Reno Silver Sox News Release
For the first time in Reno Silver Sox history, the team faced an opponent from outside of the United States. And unfortunately for the Sox, things did not go well.
The Edmonton Cracker Cats entered Tuesday?s game with a combined twelve home runs as a team. They enter Wednesday with 17.
3B Joe Jiannetti hit two of the home runs in the game for Edmonton, as the Cracker Cats defeated the Silver Sox by a score of 16-5.
The good news for the Silver Sox was that local favorite Carlos Madrid returned to the lineup Tuesday at second base, and didn?t waste any time stepping up his offensive game knocking in a pair of runs in his first at bat.
Game two of the three game set will begin Wednesday night at 7 PM. Jesse Hall will make the start for the Silver Sox, they look to rebound from the game one loss. Tickets can be purchased on silversoxbaseball.com or at the ticket booth at Peccole Park prior to the game.
