
Machacek Named Boston Pizza WHL Player of the Week

CALGARY, AB. - The BOSTON PIZZA WHL Player of the Week is forward Spencer Machacek of the Vancouver Giants.
Machacek picked up seven points in three games during the week of November 5th through to November 11th. He scored four goals, three assists and was plus four, helping the Giants to a 3-0 record in that span.
On Wednesday, November 7th, the Giants hosted the rejuvenated Prince George Cougars at the Pacific Coliseum. Machacek picked up a pair of assists in the Giants 7-4 victory over the Cougars.
On Saturday, November 10th, the Red Deer Rebels rolled into Vancouver during their Western swing to face the Giants. Machacek potted two goals, including the winner, as the Giants defeated the Rebels 5-2. He was also named the games 1st Star.
On Sunday, November 11th, in game three of a four game home stand the Vancouver Giants hosted WHL B.C. Division rivals, the Kamloops Blazers. Machacek had another two goal night and added one assist helping his Giants to their fifth straight win, 5-2. He also scored the game winning goal and was named the games 1st Star for the second straight game.
With the Vancouver Giants three victories over the past week and their latest streak, they find themselves in first place of not only the B.C. Division and Western Conference, but the entire Western Hockey League.
Machacek, a 19 year old product of Lethbridge, Alberta is in his third year of play in the Western Hockey League and with the Vancouver Giants. At the 2007 NHL Entry Draft Machacek was selected in the 3rd round - 67th overall by the Atlanta Thrashers.
The WHL has also nominated Michael Maniago of the Lethbridge Hurricanes for the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week Award.
