PEARL, MS - The Mississippi Braves (42-44, 13-4) rolled past the Rocket City Trash Pandas (50-36, 9-8) 6-2 for their fifth straight win in front of a crowd of 3,545 fans on Saturday night at Trustmark Park.

The M-Braves improved to 12-2 in July and have won 13 of their last 15.

The M-Braves celebrated "Tougaloo Nine" night, honoring the nine brave members of the Jackson Youth Council of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People that conducted a "sit-in" at Jackson's main library to protest segregation on March 27, 1961. M-Braves players wore special jerseys with the names of the "Tougaloo Nine" on the back.

RHP Alan Rangel tossed six shutout innings for his fourth win of the season, allowing just two hits with seven strikeouts. Atlanta's No. 20 prospect dropped to a 4.92 ERA in 17 starts. He has 89 strikeouts in 71 1/3 innings.

The M-Braves wasted no time scoring as Cody Milligan smoked a line drive to right to lead off the first, and Justyn-Henry Malloy knocked him in with a groundball up the middle to make it 1-0.

Malloy went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. In five games for the M-Braves, he is batting .300 with a homer and six RBI. Malloy is ranked as Atlanta's No. 28 prospect.

In the second, Vaughn Grissom smacked a two-run triple to deep right field to extend the lead to 4-0.

Grissom went 1-for-4 with a triple, a walk and two RBI. In five games for the M-Braves, the infielder is batting .500 with 11 hits, a homer and five RBI. Grissom is ranked as Atlanta's No. 4 prospect.

Milligan had a sacrifice fly in the inning, part of a 3-for-4 game with an RBI.

Drew Lugbauer led off the third with a solo blast to the batter's eye in center field to make it 5-0.

The homer was Lugbauer's 20th of the season. The first baseman is the Southern League's active home run leader.

A sacrifice fly from Riley Delgado in the fifth added another run to make it 6-0.

Yariel Gonzalez went 3-for-4 on the night. Gonzalez is 8-for-16 in the series against Rocket City.

The Trash Pandas scored two runs in the eighth, making up the final score of 6-2.

The series finale is on Sunday at Trustmark Park. LHP Dylan Dodd (0-0, --) makes the start for Mississippi, his Double-A debut, against RHP Coleman Crow (7-2, 3.35) Rocket City. The first pitch is at 1:50 pm CT, with coverage starting at 2:05 pm CT on 103.9 WYAB, TuneIn Radio, First Pitch App, and MiLB.tv.
