PENSACOLA, FL - Hard-throwing Miami Marlins pitcher Edward Cabrera is returning to Pensacola for a rehab start on Saturday as he prepares to return to the Marlins starting rotation.
Cabrera, 24, made five starts for the Blue Wahoos last season, going 2-1 with a 2.77 ERA. In three starts with the Marlins in 2022, the electric righty is 2-1 with a 3.45 ERA. He is currently ranked as the #3 overall prospect in the Miami Marlins system and the #56 overall prospect in baseball by Baseball America. Cabrera has been on Miami's injured list since June 15 with right elbow tendinitis.
Saturday's game will also feature postgame fireworks and Marvel's Defenders of the Diamond at Blue Wahoos Stadium. The Blue Wahoos will take the field in specialty Captain America jerseys, which will be auctioned to fans during the game, and Captain America will make a character appearance at the ballpark.
The gates at the ballpark will open at 5:05 PM and the Blue Wahoos will take on the Chattanooga Lookouts, the Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, at 6:05 PM. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN Pensacola 1330 AM/99.1 FM and WYCT 98.7-HD4 (radio), MiLB.tv (streaming) and BlabTV (cable).
