Mississippi Braves News Release
CHATTANOOGA, TN - The Mississippi Braves (3-4) homered three times but lost 8-6 to the Chattanooga Lookouts (4-3) in front of a crowd of 4,716 on Friday night at AT&T Field. The series is now tied at two games apiece.
The M-Braves jumped in front right away when Cody Milligan launched a leadoff home run to the bleachers in right field to make it 1-0. The homer was Milligan's first of the season, and he has hit in six of seven games.
In the second, Arden Pabst led off the inning with a solo shot to right field. Four straight batters after Pabst. Milligan punched a line drive through the middle of the infield to score a run, and Cal Conley picked up an RBI on an infield single. A double steal and an error brought in another two runs, and the M-Braves led 5-0 at the end of the inning.
Milligan went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in his second multi-hit game, and Conley reached four times, going 2-for-3 with two base hits, a walk, and an RBI.
Drew Campbell parked a solo homer, his first of the season, over the right field wall in the third to make it 6-0.
RHP Tanner Gordon retired 11 batters in a row before finally giving up an infield single with two outs in the fourth. The hit sparked a rally for the Lookouts, and they ripped off three runs in the fourth before scoring five more in the fifth to take an 8-6 lead. The five runs came off three hits and two errors.
Gordon finished with four-plus innings, allowing eight runs, four earned. The right-hander gave up five hits and a walk with five strikeouts.
Neither team scored over the final four innings. RHP Alec Barger tossed two shutout innings with two strikeouts. Barger has yet to allow a run in five innings this season. RHP Domingo Gonzalez followed with two scoreless innings.
The fifth game of the series is on Saturday at AT&T Field. RHP Daniel Martinez (0-1, 9.00) will make the start for Mississippi against RHP Sam Benschoter (0-1, 5.40) for Chattanooga. The first pitch is at 6:15 pm CT, with coverage starting at 6:00 pm CT on 102.1 The Box, First Pitch App, and Bally Live.
