
M-Braves Drop Back-and-Forth Game Against Blue Wahoos 6-3

PENSACOLA, FL - The Mississippi Braves (8-16) lost a close back-and-forth contest 6-3 to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (14-10) on Thursday night at Blue Wahoos Stadium. The game featured two ties and three lead changes.
Down 1-0 in the third, Hudson Potts launched a 403-foot solo shot to left that tied the game. The ball exited Potts' bat at 107 miles per hour. Potts has two homers this season.
LHP Luis De Avila went five innings and allowed two runs. The left-hander gave up four hits and no walks with three strikeouts. In five starts, De Avila is 0-2 with a 3.26 ERA over 19 1/3 innings. He has eight walks and 23 strikeouts. De Avila is currently ranked as Atlanta's No. 20 prospect.
The M-Braves trailed 2-1 in the sixth. With the bases loaded, Landon Stephens roped a two-out, two-run base hit into right field to give the M-Braves a 3-2 lead. Cade Bunnell beat a throw to the plate with a powerful slide.
Stephens went 1-for-3 and has two homers and 10 RBI this season.
Troy Johnston gave Pensacola the lead again with a two-run single in the seventh. A sacrifice fly and another RBI single made it a four-run inning to give the Blue Wahoos a 6-3 lead.
The Blue Wahoos have won all three games in the series. The M-Braves have struggled offensively in the series, scoring four runs over the three games.
The fourth game of the series is on Friday at Blue Wahoos Stadium. RHP AJ Smith-Shawver will make his Double-A debut for Mississippi after being promoted from High-A Rome. RHP M.D. Johnson (0-1, 4.00) makes the start for Pensacola. The first pitch is at 6:35 pm CT, with coverage starting 15 minutes before on 102.1 The Box, First Pitch App, and Bally Live.
