Mississippi Braves News Release
PEARL, MS - The Mississippi Braves (3-9) lost 3-0 to the Montgomery Biscuits (9-3) on Thursday night at Trustmark Park, dropping their seventh straight game.
RHP Tanner Gordon posted the first quality start of the season for the M-Braves. The right-hander posted six innings, allowing two runs, one earned. Gordon struck out a season-high seven batters with one walk. He is currently ranked as Atlanta's No. 28 prospect.
After a single and a double to start the second, Gordon struck out back-to-back hitters. A wild pitch and an error on a throw to the plate against the next batter scored two runs before Gordon went on to strike out the side.
The M-Braves collected six hits, five of which came with two outs. The M-Braves came into the game third in the league in homers and tied for second in doubles but failed to muster an extra-base hit. The M-Braves had multiple base runners just once in the second inning when Evan Edwards dropped an infield pop-up to put runners on the corners before Arden Pabst grounded out.
Montgomery threw five different pitchers with starter RHP Anthony Molina going 4 1/3 innings.
The Biscuits added an insurance run in the eighth to make it 3-0.
Hudson Potts singled in the ninth before Michael Mercado converted his first save.
