Lynx Sign Goalie Martin

AUGUSTA, Ga.− The Augusta Lynx have signed goaltender Joel Martin, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations John Marks announced today.

"Joel is a big butterfly goalie who fills up a lot of the net," Marks said. "He's a proven pro performer who has been very consistent in his career. I'm thrilled to add him to our roster."

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound native of Fort Worth, Texas, had a 27-17-4 record with the Elmira Jackals last season, recording a 3.03 goals against average and .892 save percentage.

The 25-year-old Martin has a 42-34-6 career ECHL record with a 3.19 GAA and .897 save percentage in 82 games during three seasons with Columbus, Trenton and Elmira. Martin also has AHL experience, earning a 2-1 record with a 3.47 GAA and .873 save percentage with Cleveland, Syracuse and Norfolk from 2005-06 through 2006-07. Prior to turning pro, Martin had a 46-50-9 career record with a 3.24 GAA and .892 save percentage in 123 career games with Lethbridge, Tri-City, Calgary and Vancouver of the Western Hockey League from 2000-01 through the 2002-03 season.
