Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release
BILOXI, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced on Wednesday that forward Kyle McAllister and defenseman Michael Couch have signed contracts for the 2008-09 season. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Michael Couch was one of our most improved players over the course of last season," said Sea Wolves head coach Steffon Walby. "He's a team guy in the locker room, he protects his guys on the ice, and he's a joy to coach."
Couch signed with Mississippi prior to the 2007-08 season after appearing in 21 games with Torino, scoring two goals and eight assist in his first professional season. The resident of Halifax, N.S. played four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with Halifax and Rouyn-Noranda, scoring 15 goals and 49 assists for 64 career points in 235 games. Following his junior career, the 6-4, 208-pound rearguard played two seasons at St. Thomas University in Fredericton, N.B., notching 12 points (6g, 6a) in 55 career games for the Tommies.
A native of Cornwall, Ont., McAllister spent five seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with Ottawa, Toronto St. Michael's, and Owen Sound, scoring 77 goals and 118 assists in 261 games. McAllister then spent five seasons at St. Thomas University, where he was a teammate of Couch's and posted 156 points (68g, 88a) in 131 career games. The 6-2, 195 pound center appeared in 49 games with the Sea Wolves in 2007-08, potting seven goals and 19 assists after beginning the season with the Florida Everblades, where he scored four goals and four assists in 16 games.
"Kyle McAllister can play the wing, center, and on the power-play point," Walby stated. "He's going to pick up more penalty-kill time and play a more offensive role this season."
The Sea Wolves open the 2008-09 home schedule with a three-game set against the Charlotte Checkers on October 24, 25, and 26 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Season tickets and group packages are now on sale! Call 228.275.WOLF to reserve yours today!
