
Lynchburg's Four-Game Win Streak Over Kinston Snapped

The Indians pounded the Hillcats 9-2 on Saturday night in the third game of the four-game series. All nine runs Kinston scored came with two outs as they went 8-for-17 with men in scoring position.
Kinston took the lead with a four-run bottom of the second inning. Coming into the frame the K-Tribe had scored just two runs in 19 innings in the series. Ronald Rivas plated the first three runs in the inning with a bases clearing double. Another run cam home on the next pitch when Bo Greenwell singled in a run.
The lead got upped to 5-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning when Greenwell doubled in another run and ended the night for Hillcats starter Chase Ware after three and 2/3 innings. An inning later the Tribe tacked on again an inning later with two more runs. Juan Diaz singled in a run and Donnie Webb doubled in another. At that point the Indians were 6-for-10 with men in scoring position and all seven of their runs had come with two outs.
Lynchburg got on the board in the top of the sixth inning. Chris Richburg blasted a two-run homer out to left to make it a 7-2 game. Richburg now has 15 RBI in 15 games with the Hillcats since coming up from Low-A Dayton.
The Indians struck again in the bottom of the sixth with another two-out run in the frame. Kyle Bellows doubled in the eighth run of the evening for the K-Tribe to put their lead back to six at 8-2. Yet another two-out run scored in the bottom of the seventh inning for the Tribe. Greenwell drove-in his third run of the night with his fourth hit of the evening.
The loss went to Ware (1-3) for Lynchburg (45-64) and the win went to Marty Popham (2-4) for Kinston (54-56). The Hillcats will look to take three out of four in the set on Sunday when the series concludes at 2:00 p.m. at Grainger Stadium.
