WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Josh Phegley went 3 for 3 with a home run and three RBI while Dylan Axelrod threw eight outstanding innings and the Dash dropped Frederick 6-1 on Saturday night at BB&T Ballpark. Winston-Salem improved to 4-2 on the home stand and goes for the series victory on Sunday afternoon.

Axelrod set down the first six men he faced to keep the Keys offense at bay. Frederick starter Nathan Moreau (3-2) had a perfect first inning, but allowed a leadoff single to Seth Loman in the second. Phegley then slammed a 2-0 pitch over the left field fence for a two-run home run, his first of the season.

The Keys (20-21, 61-50) halved Winston's lead in the top of the third. Bobby Stevens hit a one-out double and moved to third base on a wild pitch. Brian Ward drove him in with a groundout to the third baseman to cut Frederick's deficit to 2-1.

The Dash (21-20, 64-47) extended its lead in the fourth inning. Loman and Phegley singled to start the frame before Moreau retired the next two batters. Frederick's starter was a pitch away from striking out Kenny Williams, Jr. to escape the inning unscathed, but Williams worked it to a 3-2 count before stroking a double to left field. Loman and Phegley both scored to push Winston ahead 4-1. Williams later scored on a Brandon Short single to give the Dash a four-run cushion

Phegley hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Jon Gilmore in the fifth and make it 6-1 Winston-Salem. Phegley had his best game of the season, going 3 for 3 with three runs batted in and two runs scored.

While the offense hit Moreau hard, Axelrod (6-2) shined on the mound for the home team. The right-hander scattered three hits over eight innings, striking out four and walking none to earn the win. Tyson Corley pitched a perfect ninth to finish off the Keys.

Moreau suffered the loss, allowing five runs on six hits in 3.2 innings. He has gone exactly 3.2 innings in each of his last three starts.

The home stand and series conclude on Sunday afternoon when RHP Nate Jones (8-4, 4.45) opposes RHP Oliver Drake (2-6, 4.84). First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. at BB&T Ballpark. The audio broadcast begins at 1:45 on www.wsdash.com.
