THE HILLCATS: Last night, the Hillcats lost to the Frederick Keys 4-0...LHP Nick Haughian combined with the Keys bullpen to shutout the Hillcats...Haughian gave up five hits, walked one and struck out five through six innings...Lynchburg had ample opportunities to score with eight hits on the night...They loaded the bases with just one out in the eighth...The 'Cats were 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position ...The Hillcats currently sit in fourth place in the Northern Division at 2-5, 1.5 games back of the Frederick Keys and Potomac Nationals tied for first...

VS. FREDERICK: The Hillcats are 6-6 against the Keys this season...Lynchburg snapped their season-high 10-game losing streak (4/10-4/20) in their first meeting with the Keys back on April 21...The 'Cats took that first series 3-1, but have dropped the last two series' 2-1...Last season, Lynchburg lost the season series to Frederick 8-12...Myrtle Beach (2010 Braves Advance-A affiliate) split the series with Frederick 10-10...

SCORELESS AFFAIRS: Lynchburg has been involved in 13 shutouts this season, second-most in the league next to the Kinston Indians at 17...The 'Cats at 6-7 in shutout contests after losing last night 4-0...Last night, four Keys hurlers combined for the shutout, the most opposing pitchers in a shutout against the 'Cats this season...It was the second time the Keys have shutout the Hillcats matching the two shutout issued by the Indians...Lynchburg has now been held scoreless in three of their last nine contests...

STARTING SHAFER: RHP Aaron Shafer makes his sixth appearance and fifth start of the season for the Hillcats tonight...So far, he has not allowed more than one run in a single start, boasting a 1.04 ERA as a starter with the 'Cats...He has shown endurance, completing seven innings in each of his last three outings...He is the only starter to win a game for the Hillcats in the second half, after tossing seven scoreless in Wilmington June 25...His first win of the season came on June 11 in Frederick (7 ip, 4 h, 1 r, 1 er, 2 bb, 2 k)...

BEST OF THE BRAVOS: Eight members of the Hillcats are ranked amongst the top 30 prospects in the Braves organization according to Baseball America...That list includes C Christian Bethancourt (12), SS Andrelton Simmons (15), RHP David Hale (17), RHP Dimasther Delgado (18), OF Todd Cunningham (20), OF Adam Milligan (22), INF Joe Leonard (23) and 2B Phil Gosselin (25)...

THE GREEN & GOLDEN GOOSE: INF Phil Gosselin went 1-for-4 last night extending his current hit-streak to four games...In that span, he is 7-for-15, with two doubles, three RBI, and a run scored...He finished the month of June hitting in 10 of his last 12 games...He hit .286 with a home run, seven doubles, and 13 RBI in the month as a whole...He's driven in at least 10 runs in each of the first three months of the season, April (10), May (16)...His 39 RBI on the season lead the team, and his 22 multi-hit games and tied for most by any Hillcat this year...Now hitting .279 on the season, which is good for ninth in the league...

DEJA VU: On May 7 in Winston-Salem, OF Adam Milligan injured his hamstring running down a ball hit down the line in right field...He would exit the game and eventually land on the disabled list for a week...Sunday night, legging out a double, Milligan did it again...He remained in the game and was tagged out on the bases trying to advance to third, but would not re-enter...In both games, OF Keenan Wiley has replaced Milligan and done quite well, Wiley finished 3-for-3 with an RBI back on May 7, and went 1-for-2 last night with a double...

STREAKING 'CATS: INF Joe Leonard extended his current hit-streak to a season-high eight games last night...He went 1-for-4 and is now 9-for-31 during the streak with three doubles and four RBI...OF Adam Milligan hasn't played since Sunday night but currently holds a career-high 10-game hitting streak...Milligan is 13-for-36 over his past 10, hitting .286 on the season, tied for sixth in the league...

ALL-STAR MOMENTUM: INF Joey Terdoslavich was named Carolina League Player of the Month for May, after hitting .304, with four home runs and 20 RBI...Then through his first 19 games of June, leading to the All-Star break, he hit just .214 (15-for-70) with one home run and five RBI...Since returning from Modesto, CA where he started at first base for the Carolina League All-Stars, he has caught fire once again batting .333 (8-for-24) so far in the second half...On the season, he ranks among the league leaders in home runs (T-2nd, 12), doubles (1st, 27), slugging pct. (5th, .511), extra base hits (T-1st, 40), and total bases (3rd, 136)...

228 AT-BATS LATER: INF Phil Gosselin homered in his eighth at-bat of the season, April 10 in Potomac...He was the first Hillcat to go deep in 2011...He went his next 228 at-bats with out a home run, before launching a three-run shot Friday June 17 off Kinston reliever Francisco Jimenez in the sixth inning...In between home runs he had 62 hits, including 16 doubles, and a team leading five triples...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Bobby Bundy was selected in the eighth round of the 2008 draft by the Orioles out of Sperry (OK) High School...Last year, for Low-A Delmarva, he led the Shorebirds in ERA (2.65), innings pitched (116) and strikeouts (91)...Pitched the only complete game for Delmarva in 2010...Carolina League Pitcher of the Week for the week of May 16-22...Faced Lynchburg three times this season...On April 24, pitched six shutout innings while striking out nine to earn win...Took loss on May 10, pitching six innings and giving up four runs on five hits...On June 11, took the loss after pitching four and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs, two of them earned...Currently 5-7 with a 3.10 ERA...
