THE HILLCATS: Lynchburg dropped the middle game of a three-game series at Winston-Salem with a 4-3 loss at Wake Forest Baseball Park...With the loss and and Potomac's win, the Hillcats once again are tied for first place in the Northern Division and for the best record in the league...Today is the third game of a three-game series at Winston-Salem and game six of six in a row on the road...

VS. WINSTON-SALEM: The Hillcats took three out of four from the Dash when they met at City Stadium in mid-May...Last season Winston-Salem (then the Warthogs) won the season series 14-6 and were 8-2 at Ernie Shore Field...Lynchburg has the all-time advantage 147-137, but they are 64-75 in the Triad...

COMING UP SHORT: Winston-Salem led 4-0 after two innings last night...Lynchburg rallied with two runs in the fifth and one in the seventh, but they fell a run short and lost by one...It was just the second time this season the Hillcats have lost a one-run game...They were 8-1 in one-run contests before last night...They also fell to 12-7 in games decided by three or less...

QUALITY NOT QUANTITY: Tuesday was the Hillcats shortest nine inning game of the season...The 6-2 win took only two hours and four minutes to play...The game featured a season-low three strike outs between the two teams...Lynchburg did play a game against Frederick at City Stadium that took an hour and 38 minutes, but that was a seven inning contest...The announced attendance at Wake Forest Baseball Park was just 201 people, easily the smallest crowd the Cats have played in front of this year...

FIFTH ROUNDERS: The two starting pitchers last night were both selected in the fifth round of last year's First-Year Player Draft...LHP Justin Wilson for the Hillcats, was taken by the Pirates out of Fresno State...RHP Daniel Hudson was taken by the White Sox out of Old Dominion University...Hudson did not allow a hit in the first four innings and out dueled Wilson to earn his first win at the Advanced-A level...

GO ON WITHOUT ME: UTIL Miles Durham went 0-for-4 last night and had his season-long eight-game hitting streak snapped...INF Ray Chang went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI to extend his season-long hitting streak to nine games...Over that stretch, he has hit .400 (14-for-35) with ten RBI and eight runs scored...

CARRYING THE LOAD: INF Ray Chang drove-in all three runs for the Hillcats last night...He brought home the first two runs with a two-run double in the fifth inning...The third run scored on an RBI single in the seventh...Chang drove-in all three runs with two outs...

BRILLIANT BISH: RHP Harrison Bishop struck out four batters in three perfect innings of relief last night...In his last two outings he has tossed five and 2/3 innings without allowing a hit or a run...He lowered his ERA from 7.47 to 5.48 with those two appearances...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Anthony Carter was selected in the 26th round of the 2005 First-Year Player Draft out of Georgia Perimeter College...He made his professional debut with Bristol at the Rookie level in 2006 and went 2-8 with a 7.67 ERA in 13 starts...In 2007 he pitched at the Rookie level again with Great Falls and posted 5-3 record with a 3.93 ERA in 15 starts...Last season Carter advanced to the Full Season Low-A level with Kannopolis...With the Intimidators he went 5-2 with a 2.77 earned run average in 11 starts before being promoted to Advanced-A...In 17 games last season (16 starts) with Winston-Salem, he went 6-5 with a 4.90 ERA...This season he returned to the High-A level and has gone 2-3 with a 6.97 ERA in six starts...In three starts against Lynchburg he has a 1-0 record with a 4.24 ERA...In his only start against the Hillcats this season he took a no-decision after tossing six innings and allowing just two runs...
