TODAY'S GAME:
The Hillcats conclude a four-game series against the Kinston Indians seeking to salvage a series split at Grainger Stadium...The Hillcats defeated the Indians on Wednesday afternoon by a score of 2-1...The win snaps a 3-game losing streak that had matched their longest losing streak of the year...With the win, Lynchburg remains just 0.5-games back of first place in the Northern Division...All 4 Northern Division squads are seperated by a total of just 1.0-game in the standings...Despite the loss yesterday, Kinston still possesses a stellar 10-3 home mark....The two opponents on this road trip, Kinston and Myrtle Beach, have a combined 19-6 home record...The Hillcats are winless on the year in series finales, posting an 0-4 mark...

- RHP Clayton Hamilton (see page 4) makes his first start since April 16th against RHP Joe Ness, who has not allowed more than 2 earned runs in any of his first 3 outings.
- Ness, 22, is a 6-5, 230-pound right-hander selected by Cleveland in the 4th round of the 2005 draft out of Ball State University. The Indiana native spent 2005 with Mahoning Valley (A, NYPL) and compiled a 4-2 record with a 1.67 ERA (59.1 ip, 52 h, 15 r, 11 er, 19 bb, 68 k). Ness was selected with the 184th overall selection, the ninth-highest selection in Ball State history. A 2005 All-Mid-American Conference Second Team selection, Ness finished the season with a 5-5 overall record as the Cardinals' No. 1 starter on the mound.
