Lynchburg Hillcats News Release

Potomac overcame two home runs from Lynchburg's Lastings Milledge and walked away with an 8-4 victory at Pfitzner Stadium Wednesday night. The Hillcats have now lost four straight games. Lynchburg and Potomac will meet in the series finale on Thursday at 7:05 p.m.

The Cats seized an early lead when Milledge belted a solo home run - his first in a Lynchburg uniform - over the fence in left field in the top of the first.

Lynchburg held the lead through the first two innings before the P-Nats responded with a four-run outburst in the bottom of the third. Brian Peacock ripped a one-out double off Lynchburg starter Matt McSwain. Boomer Whiting drew a walk and Danny Espinosa drove in Peacock with an RBI double. Dan Nelson followed with a two-run single that scored Whiting and Espinosa. Nelson scored later in the inning on an RBI single from Michael Burgess.

Jordy Mercer brought the Cats closer with his sixth home run of the season - a solo shot off Potomac reliever Osvaldo Rodriguez that made it a 4-2 game.

One inning later, the Hillcats evened the score at 4-4. Chase d'Arnaud reached on a one-out walk from P-Nats reliever Cole Kimball. Milledge followed with his second homer of the contest, a two-run blast that sailed over the right field wall.

Potomac answered in the bottom of the seventh when Burgess smacked a two-run home run off Cats reliever Paul Mildren that put the P-Nats in front 6-4.

The P-Nats tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth to seal the win. Kimball (3-5) earned the victory for Potomac while Mildren (3-5) was charged with the loss. Dan Leatherman picked up his third save of the season.

Milledge went 2-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI, and two runs scored. In three games with Lynchburg, Milledge has hit .250 (3-for-12) with two home runs, a double, four RBI and three runs scored.

Lynchburg will try to end its four-game losing skid in the finale of the four-game set with Potomac on Thursday night. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
