OREM, Utah, Nov. 27, 2007 - Kevin Lyde drained a baseline jumper at the buzzer to lift the Dakota Wizards to a 99-97 NBA Developmetn League win at the McKay Events Center on Tuesday.

Flash reserve guard Michael Cuffee seemed to have sent the Flash into overtime after a three-pointer from the corner knotted the game at 97-97 with one second remaining, but Lyde's 12-footer sent a Flash opening-night crowd of 4,584 home disappointed.

The win was the first of the season for Dakota (1-2), while the Flash (1-2) lost for the second consecutive time. The Flash returns to action at home against the Bakersfield Jam on Thursday. Tipoff is 7 p.m. Dakota plays it fourth straight road game at Idaho on Friday.

Lyde was among five Dakota players in double figures, finishing with 17 points. Carlos Powell finished with 23 points, while Dontell Jefferson chipped in 25 for the Wizards in the winning effort.

Utah struggled from the floor all night long, including going 3-for-17 in the first quarter and continuing an early-season trend of starting slow.

"That is something that has plagued us." Flash coach Brad Jones said. "We're not getting off to very good starts."

The Flash eventually found their rhythm behind Kevin Kruger and Cuffee.

Cuffee finished with 24 points including the three-pointer as time ran down. Kruger led the Flash with 25 points, including 4-of-6 shooting from behind the three-point line.

"Michael (Cuffee) was hot all night long." Jones said. "The bottom line on Kevin Kruger is the kid is just a winner. He competes like crazy and he's going to do nothing but get better."

Brandon Wallace added 16 points and came one rebound short of his second double-double of the season, while Rob Benson recorded his first double-double of the season for the Wizards with 12 points and 18 rebounds.
