Rockford IceHogs News Release

Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs will have defenseman Nathan Lutz back in the line-up, as the Portland Pirates (AHL) have reassigned him to the Hogs. IceHogs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Mark Bernard made the announcement on Monday. Lutz appeared in nine games with the Pirates since being called up on December 4th. The blue-liner was making his third stint in the American Hockey League this season. Lutz began the 2003-04 campaign with the Milwaukee Admirals before signing with Rockford. He also played in a pair of games with Milwaukee in November and has 12 games at the AHL level this season.

"Nathan did a great job for us," said Portland Assistant Coach Mark Kumpel. "Washington (Capitals) had a few players activated from the Injured Reserve however, and we had to create some roster spaces on our team to accommodate for them."

With Rockford, Lutz has appeared in 15 games and has racked up 4g-5a-9pts and leads the IceHogs with a plus/minus rating of +8. Lutz is expected to be in the line-up on Wednesday when the IceHogs take on the Muskegon Fury at the Rockford MetroCentre.

Next Home Game: Wednesday, January 14th vs. Muskegon Fury. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. The Fury return to the MetroCentre in another Western Conference showdown. Wednesday at the big orange box with the IceHogs means another WXRX $1 Beer Night brought to you by the Rock Station 104.9 FM.
