
Lunkers get 4th of July win over Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY, ON - Kye Winter pitched eight masterful innings for the Lunkers en route to his third win of the season, as the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers defeated the Thunder Bay Border Cats 4-1 on Monday night at Subway Field at Port Arthur Stadium.
With the win, the Lunkers pick up their second consecutive 4th of July win in as many years.
Offensively, Nick Hamilton was strong for the Lunkers, as he went 2 for 2, scored a run and drove in a run.
The Lunkers tagged Thunder Bay starting pitcher John Straka for three runs as he takes his first loss of the season. Dan Olinger, Matt Hillsinger and Vince Bruno picked up the other Lunker RBIs on the night.
Chase Webb came on in the 9th to record his first save as a Lunker.
With the win the Lunkers move to (18-10) on the season, although they fall short of Mankato in the first half as the MoonDogs have clinched the first half North Division title. Thunder Bay falls to (11-21).
The Lunkers and Border Cats are back in action Tuesday night in Thunder Bay. Joe Willman gets the start for the Lunkers against Zak Miller for Thunder Bay. First pitch is set for 6:05 CT.
