Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
MUSKEGON, Michigan - For the first time this season in regulation, the Muskegon Lumberjacks lose a tough-fought battle to the Waterloo Black Hawks by a score of 3-0.
The Black Hawks (7-1-0, 14 points) struck first in the opening period at the 8:39 mark from an unassisted goal from Forward Zach Stepan to make 1-0 Waterloo. Later on in the period, the Black Hawks added to their lead a second after the Lumberjacks killed a penalty from Forward Tyler Heinonen at the 17:25 mark from Forward Kyle Schmidt to make it 2-0.
The score remained the same until the 4:12 mark of the third period, and the dagger was delivered by Forward Vince Hinostroza shorthanded on a turnover deep in the Lumberjacks' zone to finish off a 3-0 Waterloo victory.
The Lumberjacks (7-1-1, 15 points) were shutout for the first time this season and could muster no offense from the brick wall known as Black Hawks Goaltender, Eamon McAdam, who stopped 33 shots he faced and earned his second consecutive shutout of the season. Waterloo was led by Stepan, who had two points (a goal and an assist) in the victory. Lumberjacks Goaltender Kevin Lindskoug stopped 31 of the 34 shots he faced, and Waterloo outshot the Lumberjacks in the contest 34-33.
