Luke Strand Named GM of Musketeers

Sioux City, Iowa - The Sioux City Musketeers are pleased to announce that Luke Strand has been named the team's General Manager. His job duties will include running both annual entry drafts, player development of current affiliated players, and managing the active roster.

Luke re-joins the Musketeers organization after spending time as an assistant coach with the Abbotsford Heat, the top affiliate club for the NHL's Calgary Flames.

"I'm excited about adding an individual with extensive experience in the game and in the USHL. Luke and I speak the same language in terms of hockey, and we are excited to have him establishing the culture among our future players" stated Head Coach Jay Varady

With this change the Sioux City Musketeers have restructured their hockey operations. Jay Varady is now Director of Hockey Operations and Head Coach, Luke Strand is the General Manager, and Mark Abalan is the Assistant Coach.

Keith Paulsen is leaving the organization for a position with the Madison Capitals as Associate Head coach and Director of Player Personnel. The Madison Capitals begin play in the USHL next season.

"We would like to thank Keith and his family for their dedication to the Musketeers organization" stated Lloyd Ney, team President. "Keith has established an extraordinary standard of work ethic, determination and focus, and we would like to wish him the best of luck with his future."
