BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - J.B. Woodman homered, Yeltsin Gudino twice singled in Jake Thomas, and the Lansing Lugnuts (13-10) knocked off the Bowling Green Hot Rods (10-12) for a third straight night, 3-2, on Saturday at Bowling Green Ballpark.

The Lugnuts head into Sunday afternoon's series finale looking to complete the franchise's first ever four-game sweep in Bowling Green.

Lansing's victory was owed in large part to its bullpen, with four relievers holding the Hot Rods scoreless for the final 3 1/3 innings.

Woodman sparked the scoring two batters into the game, driving his second home run of the season over the wall in right-center against Hot Rods starter Adrian Navas (Loss, 1-4).

In the second inning, Thomas and Nash Knight connected with back-to-back singles. Two batters later, Gudino plated Thomas with a line drive to right for a 2-0 lead.

Bowling Green carved the deficit to 2-1 on a Lucius Fox RBI single in the second off Lugnuts starting pitcher Patrick Murphy.

The two teams exchanged runs in the sixth. In the top half, Thomas walked, moved to second on a Knight single, and came home on a Gudino single to left for a 3-1 lead. In the home half, however, Rene Pinto drilled a two-out RBI single to pull the Hot Rods within 3-2.

Lansing manager Cesar Martin went to his bullpen, ending Murphy's (Win, 2-0) night at 5 2/3 innings, with four hits, two runs, four walks and three strikeouts.

2016 third-rounder Zach Jackson was the first reliever called upon, dispatching Jonah Heim to end the sixth and striking out two Hot Rods in a perfect seventh.

In the eighth inning, Philip Walby recorded a pair of outs sandwiched around a Nate Lowe double. Kirby Snead came in for Walby and stranded Lowe in scoring position, coaxing a groundout from Eleardo Cabrera.

Jackson McClelland (Save, 4) handled the ninth, notching two more strikeouts.

The Lugnuts were led offensively by Thomas, who went 1-for-2 and drew two more walks, increasing his league-leading total to 20, and Gudino, who collected two hits for the third straight game. Bradley Jones added a single and a double in four at-bats, raising his batting average to .372.

In the victory, Lansing shortstop Bo Bichette went 0-for-4, ending his league-best hitting streak at 15 games.

The Nuts send right-hander Mike Ellenbest (0-2, 8.10) to the mound on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. in search of the sweep, opposed by Bowling Green southpaw Kenny Rosenberg (0-2, 7.20).

The Lugnuts return to Lansing on Tuesday, May 2nd, opening a six-game homestand with a Dollar Deal Day: $1 hot dogs, $1 ice cream sandwiches and $1 fountain drinks! Tickets may be purchased at the Cooley Law School Stadium box office, by calling (517) 485-4500 or via lansinglugnuts.com.
