Belleville Bulls News Release
BELLEVILLE, ON - Bulls Head Coach and General Manager George Burnett announced Monday that 17 year-old forward Matt Luff has committed to the club. After a strong Training Camp, Luff is one of 14 forwards to remain on the roster.
A former OHL Cup Champion with the Oakville Rangers in 2013, Luff played both Major Midget and had a successful stint in Junior A with the Oakville Blades last season. The Oakville native posted an impressive 56 goals and 42 assists in 66 games in Major Midget and 3 goals and 3 assists in 10 games of action with the Jr. A Blades.
"Matt is an excellent student who had a number of options to consider prior to committing to our program," said George Burnett. "We are thrilled that he and his family have chosen Belleville as the place where he will continue his development both on the ice and in the classroom."
Luff provides the Bulls with another right-handed shot on the wing and brings a strong two-way game to the big ice. "He has grown and improved significantly over the past year," Burnett continued. "Matt has a strong stride and brings a unique blend of skill and intelligence to our lineup."
Luff, who will wear #25 for the Bulls this season, joins fellow 17 year-old forwards Adam Laishram, Jake Bricknell and Maurizio Colella in the Bulls lineup as each looks to take a step forward in their development.
The Bulls visit the Peterborough Petes on Monday afternoon at 2:00pm before playing host to the Erie Otters on Frday night at 7:30pm in Port Perry. The Bulls will host the Peterborough Petes at the Yardmen on Saturday, September 13th at 7:05pm.
