FC Cincinnati News Release
CINCINNATI - FC Cincinnati midfielder Luciano Acosta has been named to the MLS Team of the Week for Week 29, the league announced today. Additionally, defender Nick Hagglund earned a spot on the Team of the Week's bench.
Acosta earns a spot in the league's weekly Starting XI for the third time this season following his performance against Charlotte FC this past Saturday. Acosta scored his seventh goal of the season and added an assist to extend his league lead (16) in the category.
The Argentine playmaker once again pulled the strings for FC Cincinnati finishing with five shots and four key passes, both team highs, in the 2-0 win. Acosta now has five total selections for MLS Team of the Week in 2022.
Hagglund makes his first appearance in MLS Team of the Week after scoring his first goal of the season and third for the club. Hagglund put the Orange and Blue ahead in the 38th minute following a corner kick from Acosta with the goal proving to be the game-winner.
Hagglund completed six duels on the night and played all 90 minutes helping lead FC Cincinnati to their fifth clean sheet of the season. The recognition is his fourth time as a member of the Orange and Blue being honored among the league's weekly Team of the Week, his first since Week 18 of 2020.
FC Cincinnati have earned 20 spots on the league's weekly Team of the Week this season, which extends the most representations for the club in a single season (previous high: 2019, 16). The duo's recognition is the 56th and 57th selection for the club on the MLS Team of the Week since FC Cincinnati joined the league in 2019.
