Northern Colorado Owlz News Release

Fresh off his retirement, NHL star Luc Robitaille will grace the Orem Owlz with his presence on Canadian Night at the Home of the Owlz this Saturday, July 1 when the Owlz take on the Idaho Falls Chukars at 7:05 P.M.

Robitaille, a Canadian native, spent 18 seasons in the NHL, becoming the league's all-time leading scorer from the left wing position - finishing his career with 668 goals. An 8-time All-Star, he received the Calder Trophy after being tabbed Rookie of the Year back in 1986.

Spending most of his career with the Los Angeles Kings, Robitaille helped guide the Detroit Red Wings to a Stanley Cup Title back in 2002. His final game came on April 17 of this year after he officially announced his retirement at a press conference six days earlier.

"We are obviously incredibly thrilled and excited for Luc's appearance at the ballpark this Saturday," said co-GM Ryan Pace. "We want fans to have a first-class experience each time they visit the ballpark, and we have no doubt Luc will help make this an extra special first-class evening."

Luc's wife, Stacia Robitaille, who is a talented singer/song-writer, will also be on hand to sing both the Canadian and American national anthems prior to the start of the ballgame. Her website, staciamusic.com, highlights her background and singing career.

"Not many people realize that Luc's wife, Stacia, has had a very successful career of her own in the music industry. Having her sing both of the anthems will make the evening that much better," said co-GM Zachary Fraser. "The bottom line is that this is going to be a memorable night that fans will not want to miss."

Fans who come to the ballpark carrying a Toonie, a Canadian $2 coin, will receive one "Reserved Seat" ticket (normally priced at $6).

The entire promotional schedule for the 2006 season can be viewed on the next page.

Individual game tickets are still available for Saturday. They can be purchased on the Owlz website at oremowlz.com, at our stadium box office on the campus of UVSC, or at any Smith Tix location. The OWLZ, affiliates of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, are the two-time defending Pioneer League champions and can be heard live all-season long The Zone 960 AM.
