Roanoke, Va., (Mar. 16) â The Charleston Lowgators outscored the Roanoke Dazzle 41-22 in the fourth quarter to run away with a 114-112 win Tuesday night at the Roanoke Civic Center.
The Lowgators came back from a 15-point second-half deficit to overtake the Dazzle. Charleston went on an 8-0 run in the middle of the fourth to tie the Dazzle 93-93. Ime Udoka hit a jumper at 1:43 left in the game to give the Lowgators a 103-101 lead. The Dazzle missed three straight field goal attempts and was unable to regain lead.
"Our guys had a lot of poise on the line down the stretch," said Charleston Head Coach Doug Marty. We were 20 for 23 in the fourth quarter. That won the game for us.
Charleston was led by Udoka with 22 points. Tierre Brown had nine of his 21 in the fourth quarter. Alpha Bangura chipped in 19 points.
The Dazzle (20-17), who shot just 39 percent from the field were led by Terrence Shannon with 27 points and 11 rebounds. Curtis Staples chipped in 16 points off the bench.
"We could not get anything to go in the basket in the fourth quarter," said Dazzle Head Coach Kent Davison. It is very frustrating to let a 15 point led go and lose at home."
Charleston returns home for a Saturday home game against Fayetteville. Roanoke remains home for an important Saturday evening contest with the Asheville Altitude.
