Charleston Lowgators News Release
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (September 10) The North Charleston Lowgators of the National Basketball Development League have announced they will hold open local tryouts at Sterett Hall on Saturday and Sunday, October 25th and 26th. Registration is at 8 a.m. on Saturday with two sessions to follow. The first is from 9 a.m. to noon and the second from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday's times are to be announced.
Tryout hopefuls have the opportunity to get a chance to play in the second-best professional basketball league in the world. Coach Doug Marty and assistant Kelvin Upshaw will facilitate the tryouts, which include various basketball drills and games. Players, who must be at least 20 years old, have the chance to win a roster spot at the team's veterans' camp, which will begin in early November. Invitations to veterans' camp will be based on league approval.
Every participant will receive four tickets to the Lowgators home opener on November 28, a sleeveless NBDL T-shirt, and valuable basketball instruction. The Lowgators are accepting the first 100 players with completed registration materials, available off the team's website www.northcharlestonlowgators.com or at the Lowgators' office at the North Charleston Coliseum.
The pre-registration fee is $75 (cashier's check or money order only) and is due along with the other registration materials by Wednesday, October 22. Late applications will be accepted at Sterett Hall on Saturday, October 25 based upon availability and will cost $100. Players are responsible for their own transportation, meals and accommodations.
