October 8, 2010 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL)
Louisville Lightning News Release

The Louisville Lightning opened their preseason camp on Sunday as the team prepares to kick off the 2010-2011 season. New coach Ted Nichols watched over his team Sunday morning as they prepared for the home opener on November 12th. 25 players reported to the first training session which featured technical drills, fast-paced and competitive possession games, and ended with a full team scrimmage.

Following Sunday's two-hour opening session, the team met again Monday morning for training accompanied by the staff at Velocity Sports Performance.

Strength and Conditioning Coach Greg Frederick worked with the players on core strength and physical conditioning, including the Yo-Yo Intermittent Test for endurance. Coach Frederick also put his team through 40 meter and 20-meter sprints to evaluate each player's quickness, then worked on individual L-Tests for endurance.

The team met for their third rigorous session Tuesday night at Mockingbird Valley Sports Complex. Nichols and his staff are focusing on conditioning and fundamentals early on, while the coaching staff will begin working on tactical drills and evaluation as the camp continues later this week. The team will train again on Friday night, then hold an outing on Saturday with the official Yoga instructors at Bikram Yoga of Louisville.
