Louisville Lightning News Release
Defender Jonathan Kincheloe has re-signed a new deal with the Louisville Lightning, according to Lightning general manager David Horne. Kincheloe returns to the team for a second season after a highly successful campaign in the Lightning's first season last year.
The Lexington native has signed a new contract with the Louisville Lightning this week that will keep him in the yellow and black kit through the 2010-2011 season. Kincheloe appeared in 14 games with the Lightning last season, recording a team-high 18 blocks. He also scored one goal and added two assists in his first season with the squad.
"We're excited to have Jonathan back with us this season," Horne stated early this week. "He was a pivotal part of our success last year, and having his experience and leadership in the back is crucial to the success of our team." Kincheloe joins an experienced corps of defenders on the Lightning squad this season.
Prior to joining Louisville, Jonathan played for the Kentucky Wanderers, and was a four-year starter at Transylvania University in his native Lexington, Kentucky. He was named first team all-conference at Transylvania and won conference titles in three of his four seasons there. Kincheloe was named Freshman Player of the Year in 2001 and Conference Player of the Year in 2004. The defender was honored as an All-American during his senior year at Transylvania University.
Kincheloe was named All-PASL second team last season, joining teammate Safet Kovacevic and Frank Peadoby as Lightning players earning all-league honors. Kincheloe was an important piece of the puzzle that saw the Lightning outscore their opponents 186-123 last season.
When Kincheloe is not playing for the Lightning, he doesn't stray far from the soccer pitch. He is a teacher and coach at Lexington Catholic High School in his home town, and he also coaches club soccer at Lexington FC.
The Louisville Lightning is proud to have Jonathan Kincheloe back in the fold for the 2010-2011 season. For more on Jonathan, check out his profile at http://www.louisvillelightning.com/Team/377098.html.
