Louisiana Takes Game One from RiverKings

LAFAYETTE, La. -- The Mississippi RiverKings suffered their second straight loss of the young season at the hands of the Louisiana IceGators on the road 2-1 at the Cajundome.

The first 20 minutes of play went by scoreless, but the IceGators broke the tie at the 10:10 mark of the second period as Brett Liscomb beat Matthew Krahn to put the Gators up one. Louisiana added to their lead in the third when Denny Kearney took a Rob Short pass in the slot and beat Krahn blocker side to give the hometeam a two-goal lead.

The RiverKings came back late in the third. Kevin Willer picked up Andrew Randazzo's rebounded shot and beat Riley Gill to bring the RiverKings within one. The 'Kings could not convert on a late powerplay opportunity as they fell to the IceGators 2-1.

Matthew Krahn (2-1-0) picked up his first loss of his career after stopping 24 of 26 shots against. Riley Gill (4-1-0) picked up the win stopping 23 of 24 shots on goal.
