Loudoun United FC Sign Midfielder Chris Hegardt on Loan from Charlotte FC

Leesburg, VA. - Loudoun United FC announced today the acquisition of midfielder Chris Hegardt from Major League Soccer club Charlotte FC for the remainder of the 2023 season.

"With this last stretch of the season, we wanted to add someone with the quality and personality to help us immediately," said Head Coach Ryan Martin. "His creativity in attack and versatility to play multiple positions will be crucial for our team and we are excited to integrate him in our squad."

Hegardt featured eight times for the Crown in all competitions this season adding one assist in the Club's 4-1 win over South Georgia Tormenta in the 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

The midfielder originally signed with Charlotte FC from Georgetown University on January 6, 2022. Hergardt played 31 games for Georgetown across two seasons where he scored three goals and added six assists. The Hoyas won the 2021 BIG EAST Conference Tournament and earned the number three overall seed in the 2021 NCAA Tournament before falling in the Final Four.

Prior to his time at Georgetown, the San Diego native was part of the Seattle Sounders' academy where he won the 2019 Generation Adidas Cup. Hegardt made his professional debut with the Sounders USL affiliate, Tacoma Defiance, in 2019 and went on to play 17 games overall.

The midfielder played in seven matches this season for Crown Legacy FC in MLS NEXT Pro where he tallied one goal and one assist.
