LouCity Re-Signs Defender Adams on Multi-Year Deal

Louisville City FC News Release
Following a midseason transfer to Louisville City FC, defender Kyle Adams will stay in purple on a new multi-year contract, the club announced Monday.
Adams, who arrived from San Diego Loyal SC in late July, made an instant impact for a LouCity side that eventually returned to the USL Championship's Eastern Conference Final for a ninth-straight season.
"We are happy to be able to re-sign Kyle to a new contract," said coach Danny Cruz. "We were happy with his progress after coming to Louisville midseason and feel that with a full preseason under his belt, he is going to play an important role for us next year. I am looking forward to getting back to work with him as we look to compete for another USL Championship title."
Adams, a native New Zealander who led San Diego in minutes until his move, added both depth and a left-footer along LouCity's back line. The boys in purple began a four-game unbeaten streak as the 27-year-old joined them, opening with a 2-0 victory July 29 over rival Indy Eleven. He started that game days after arriving in town.
Adams went on to start in 15 of his 16 LouCity appearances. He also scored City's lone goal in the conference final, helping the club halve its deficit late against the Charleston Battery.
"This club has a reputation for winning, and I want to be part of the legacy that has been created before me," Adams said. "I've never won anything in my career as a pro player. I want to be part of lifting a trophy for this city.
"The way last season ended, it makes you hungry to take that next step to make the final and the next step after that to win the final. It's been a long time since Louisville got over that line and won the USL Championship. I think a lot of the guys are working really hard in the offseason to get there."
Out of San Diego State, Adams has also played for the USL Championship's Rio Grande Valley FC, which he captained in 2019, and Real Monarchs before signing with San Diego in 2022.
Adams marks LouCity's 15th returning player, with that core complemented by the club's first offseason signing, USL Championship Defender of the Year Arturo Ordóñez. More contract news will be announced soon in the run up to City's 10th anniversary season.
