Salt Lake Bees News Release

Salt lake city—There have been many roster moves in the last few days for the Salt Lake Stingers. Infielders Casey Smith and Billy Boyer, in the starting lineup for the Stingers on Tuesday, were added to the roster in the last few days. Boyer, 20, native of Auburn, Washington is in his second professional season. He batted .291 (48/165) with 18 RBI in 41 games for the rookie-level Mesa Angels. He was added to the Stingers' roster on 5/7 from Extended Spring, without having any professional experience above rookie level.

Smith, 24, a Portland, Maine native, was called up from double-A Arkansas today. He is in his fourth professional season, splitting time at single-A Rancho Cucamonga and double-A Arkansas. He played for the Provo Angels in 2001. In 24 games with Arkansas this season, Smith is batting .230 (20/87) with eight RBI.

RHP Brendan Donnelly continues his major league-rehab assignment in Salt Lake tonight. He joined the Stingers on Sunday 5/9 to get in some work before returning to the Angels. He was selected by fans as the 2003 "Setup Man of the Year" as conducted by MLB.com. He was the winner of the All-Star game last year in Chicago, throwing a scoreless inning in the Mid-Summer Classic. Led the 2003 Angels in games pitched (63) and ERA (1.58, 74 IP – 13 ER).

To make room for Smith, RHP Steve Andrade was placed on the 7-day disabled list retroactive to May 8, due to a lower back strain.
