
Los Angeles Secures Second Chance Win Over Albuquerque

EL SEGUNDO, CA- After a loss to Albuquerque Sunday, December 27, the Los Angeles D-Fenders pulled away with a 91 to 80 win against their opponent in tonight's rematch.
The first quarter came to a close with a tie, both teams scoring 20 points. D-Fenders' Michael Fey led his team with six points and five rebounds. Thunderbirds' Chad Toppert came off the bench to carry his team with seven points at the end of the first quarter.
The Los Angeles D-Fenders outscored the Thunderbirds 25 to 20 in the second quarter, ending the first half with a D-Fenders advantage, 45 to 40. Los Angeles' Frank Robinson poured in 11 points, while teammate Fey contributed with 10 points and seven rebounds to finish the second quarter. Albuquerque's Shane Edwards rounded out the first half with 14 points and nine rebounds.
Albuquerque trailed Los Angeles throughout the third quarter, bringing the D-Fenders to a 63 to 59 lead going into the fourth quarter. Fey grabbed a double-double late in the third with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Edwards also posted a double-double for his team with 16 points and 11 rebounds at the end of the third quarter.
The D-Fenders outscored the Thunderbirds in the fourth quarter 28 to 21 leading Los Angeles to their 91 to 80 victory. In addition to Fey's double-double contribution he led the D-Fenders with 19 points, while teammate Diamon Simpson posted a double-double of his own with 14 points and 12 rebounds to finish the fourth quarter. Edwards continued to carry Albuquerque with 24 points and 16 rebounds wrapping up the final quarter.
"We were able to play a little more physical and we tightened up a little bit on the defensive end. That was the difference," said Head Coach Chucky Brown in regards to tonight's rematch against the Albuquerque Thunderbirds.
