Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - It's not too often that a relief pitcher wins a game for a team on the mound and at the plate, but that is exactly what Lookouts reliever Blake Johnson accomplished on Friday night at AT&T Field. With the bases loaded in the 14th frame, Johnson delivered a single to give the Lookouts a walk-off 5-4 win over the Jacksonville Suns.

Former Lookouts Russ Mitchell hit an RBI single in the top of the second to give Jacksonville the momentary lead, but the Lookouts countered in the bottom portion of the inning on a two-run blast by Pedro Baez.

J.T. Wise led off the top of the third with a ball hit to deep center, but a spectacular catch in which center fielder Donnie Webb careened off of the wall to make the play gave the Lookouts a rather sour first out. The Lookouts, however, got a little revenge on the next play, as Blake Smith hit a solo shot over the right field wall to put the score at 3-1.

Jacksonville got back into the game and then took the lead by plating one on a Jake Jeffries double in the fourth and two more runs in the fifth on a Shawn Bowman two-RBI double.

The see-saw pace of the game continued in the seventh with the Lookouts scoring a run to tie-up the game. Rafael Ynoa led off with a triple and promptly made his way home on a subsequent Nick Buss single.

The game remained tied until the 14th frame, when the Lookouts finally scored to end the game. Nick Buss led off with a hit by pitch and advanced to second on a subsequent Luis Nunez single. A wild pitch by Josh Schmidt (1-3) advanced both runners. After a Wise ground out, Schmidt intentionally walked Smith to get to Lookouts Blake Johnson (2-3), who entered the game in the 13th inning. Johnson made the Suns pay by nailing a single right up the middle to win the game.

The Chattanooga Lookouts and Jacksonville Suns will continue their five-game series at 7:15 P.M., tomorrow. Tickets for this game or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
