Chattanooga Lookouts News Release
THE LAST GAME- The Lookouts win 11-9 over the Braves but West Tenn keeps pace with a victory to stay 2-games back with six to play. Chattanooga took the lead in the first. Javon Moran was hit by a pitch to lead off the game and then stole second, the first of two stolen bases in the game. He then came around to score on Javier Colina's double to right-center. The Lookouts put four runs on the board in the third making the score 5-0. Javier Colina walked and scored on a triple by Joey Votto. Votto came in to score on a sacrifice fly by Noochie Varner. Dewayne Wise doubled and Anderson Machado brought him home on a two-bagger. Miguel Perez singled to bring Machado. Mississippi struck back in the bottom of the third.
Yunel Escobar belted a three-run shot to left-center to get the Braves back in the game and make the score 5-3. Chattanooga exploded for four more runs in the fourth. Moran was hit by a pitch for the second time to lead off the inning. Joey Votto reached on an error then Aaron Herr singled Moran home. Wise then blasted a three-run homer that landed on top of the Cellular South Cafe to make the score 9-3 Lookouts.
The Braves answered with three runs in the bottom of the fourth running the score to 9-6. Mike Rozema doubled in one and Joshua Arteaga hit a sacrifice fly to left that brought a second run. Gregor Blanco followed with a single that scored Rozema. Chattanooga got one run back in the fifth. Colina doubled and Votto singled to bring him in and make the score 10-6 Looks. Mississippi got a little closer in the bottom of the fifth. Michael Rosamond belted his 10th homer of the year to bring the Braves to within two at 10-8. The Braves chipped away another run in the sixth. Blanco drove in the run with an RBI double to make the score 10-9.
Chattanooga added an insurance run in the ninth. Miguel Perez doubled in Anderson Machado to make the score 11-9. David Shafer pitched a scoreless 9th for his SL League leading 20th save. Jon Coutlangus was also stellar in relief getting a hold. He went the 7th and 8th innings keeping the Braves off the board.
PROBABLE STARTERS: RHP Josh Hall will make his fifth start for the Lookouts tonight. To date, he is 2-0 with a 3.57 ERA. In 22.2 innings, he has allowed 11 runs, nine earned, on 25 hits. The Braves will counter with RHP Matt Wright. In eight starts and one relief appearance this season, Wright is 5-2 with a 2.20 ERA. He has allowed 15 runs, 12 earned, on 39 hits.
