Chattanooga Lookouts News Release
Lookouts outfielder Quincy McAfee hit a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth, but the home team fell short in the 8-7 loss.
Chattanooga jumped out to an early lead when Rece Hinds drove home Jacob Hurtubise who led off the inning with a single. Later in the inning, Ivan Johnson plated Blake Dunn to make it 2-0.
Montgomery scored their first run in the third, but the Lookouts added two more against Biscuits start Logan Workman. Workman, a Chattanooga native, allowed three earned runs in 5.1 innings of work with four strikeouts.
The Biscuits pulled within two in the fifth on a Ronny Simon two-run homer off of Sam Benschoter. The starter struck out four in five innings.
In the sixth, the away team tied the game and then took the lead in the seventh when Tristan Peters scored on a bases-loaded walk. Montgomery padded their lead with three runs in the eighth to make it 9-4 heading into the ninth.
With two outs and two men on in the ninth McAfee hit a 412-foot homer to bring the team within one. Jose Torres then belted a ball to the wall, but it was caught for the final out.
The first pitch for tomorrow's contest is at 7:15 p.m.
