Lookouts Drop Biscuits, 5-2

Montgomery slips to fourth in North Division after third-straight loss

CHATTANOOGA, Ten. - The Biscuits (25-22) lost their third-straight game for the third time this season on Thursday night, falling in the second game of a five-game series to the Chattanooga Lookouts (26-21) by a score of 5-2.

Greg Harris (1-4) got the start for Montgomery, and after an RBI-triple by Joe McCarthy gave the Biscuits an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first, the right-hander would allow an RBI-double to Lamonte Wade in the bottom half to tie the game at one. Lookouts center fielder Ryan Strausborger would step up and club a sac fly to center in the subsequent at-bat to put Chattanooga in front, 2-1, after one.

In the second, the Lookouts would add to their lead thanks to an RBI-double by Levi Michael, and in the fifth, Twins top prospect Nick Gordon would crush his fourth home run of the season over the right field wall to make it a 4-1 game. Harris, who went five innings, allowing four runs on seven hits with two walks and a strikeout, has now allowed a Southern League-leading 10 round-trippers this season.

The Lookouts would add their fifth and final run on a wild pitch uncorked by Biscuits reliever Fernando Baez in the seventh, before Cade Gotta's opposite-field blast made it 5-2. Braxton Lee would extend his on-base streak to 33 games with a single into center in the sixth, but Montgomery didn't have any answers for Chattanooga starter Ryan Eades (2-1), who went 5.2 innings and allowed just one run on three hits in the win, nor closer John Curtiss, who struck out the side in the ninth for his ninth save.

The Biscuits will try to avoid their longest losing streak of the season on Friday night when Mike Franco (4-0) battles with Matt Tracy (3-3) at 7:15 PM ET at AT&T Field.
