Jackson Generals News Release

Jacksonville, Fla. - The Arizona Diamondbacks announced a roster move affecting the Jackson Generals prior to the team's doubleheader in Jacksonville Friday evening. Right-handed pitcher *Joel Payamps* has been added to Jackson's roster from Class A Advanced Visalia. In a corresponding move, pitcher *Iván Pineyro* was placed on the seven-day disabled list retroactive to May 24.

Payamps, 23, moves to Double-A for the first time in his professional career. With Visalia this season, Payamps is 3-1 with a 3.69 ERA over eight starts. He made a spot start for Triple-A Reno April 24, pitching six scoreless innings versus El Paso in a win.

This is the second season Payamps has pitched in the organization, after splitting 2016 between Kane County and Visalia. In 28 total outings, he struck out 128 in 133 innings while racking up 10 wins. Payamps was originally signed by the Rockies as an international free agent from the Dominican Republic in 2010. The D-backs acquired him in 2015.

Pineyro, 25, has pitched across three levels for Arizona this year. Between Visalia, Jackson and Reno, the righty is 3-2 with a 3.70 ERA in 11 outings. He has excelled in his time with the Generals, going 3-0 with a 2.42 ERA and only two walks in 22.1 innings of work.

This is Pineyro's first season with Arizona after spending time with the Nationals, Cubs and Marlins. Prior to this season, he had made just two relief appearances in his career. The Diamondbacks signed Pineyro as a minor league free agent this past offseason.

Jackson's roster currently stands at 25 active players with three on the disabled list. Payamps will wear No. 41 for the Generals. An updated roster is attached.
