Looking Ahead at Winterhawks' Homestand on and off the Ice
November 15, 2021 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Portland Winterhawks News Release
Portland, Ore. - It's been nearly three weeks without Winterhawks hockey at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum, but the boys are back and ready for a healthy dose of home cooking.
Following a two-week road trip through B.C. and Washington, the Hawks return home in third place in the WHL's U.S. Division, holding down a playoff spot but keeping their eye locked on the top of the division. Eleven games on home ice highlight the next month of Portland's schedule, and there's plenty of reason to get excited, get your tickets and get your game face on in downtown PDX.
HAWKS HOMESTAND INFO
Chasing History
The Hawks have picked up 999 wins on home ice in their history, just on the cusp of a historic 1000th victory. What better time to reach that mark than with a full house at the VMC as soon as tomorrow night? Don't miss your chance to witness a piece of Winterhawks history!
Welcome back, Jaydon!
Portland's leading scorer from the 2019-20 season, Jaydon Dureau, rejoined the team on its recent road trip, and is expected to make his 2021-22 home debut tomorrow against Everett. After notching 31 points in 24 games last year and starting this season with the AHL's Syracuse Crunch, the former fifth-round pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning is off to another strong start with three points in four games on the year, including this shorthanded beauty against Tri-City last weekend:
Be there to welcome Jaydon back to the VMC!
A WHL Variety Pack
Seven different opponents from both the U.S. and B.C. Divisions will make the trek south in the next month, allowing Winterhawks fans to see several new teams and highly talented players from across the WHL. Following the Everett matchup on Tuesday, Kelowna, Vancouver and Kamloops each make their first appearances in Portland since the 2019-20 season, followed by Prince George and Victoria opening up the December slate. Then, catch Spokane in town and close out the homestand with another face-off against Everett on Dec. 14.
