Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
Home runs by Peter Van Gansen and Henry Charles in the fourth inning were all the offense the Tri-City Dust Devils needed in an 8-1 victory over the Everett AquaSox Wednesday night at Gesa Stadium. Both home runs were hit over the right field fence and both were the second this season by their respective batters. Van Gansen's was a solo shot, while Charles' was a two-run shot that drove in Carlos Belen.
The Dust Devils (7-7) added a couple insurance runs in the fifth when Jose Carlos Urena hit a two-RBI bloop single. Three more runs were added in the eighth, as Everett rightfielder Alex Jackson made a costly error with the bases loaded that allowed all three runners to score unearned runs. The Dust Devils made their hits count Wednesday night, as Ty France had the team's fourth and final hit, and only non-run-producing hit, a double, in the sixth inning.
Tri-City starting pitcher Travis Radke had a stellar Gesa Stadium debut, scattering four hits and striking out six in four shutout innings pitched. Corey Kimber (1-0) earned the win in relief after tossing perfect seventh and eighth innings.
Everett's run was scored in the fifth, as Drew Jackson hit a double, stole third base, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Luis Liberato. Starting pitcher Lane Ratliff (0-1) took the loss for the AquaSox (10-4) after giving up five runs on three hits in 4 2/3 innings pitched.
The Dust Devils and AquaSox return to Gesa Stadium for game two of this three game series Thursday night. It will be Dollars in Your Dog Night presented by Cascade Natural Gas. Fans will have a chance to win cash with every hot dog purchased. Brett Kennedy (0-0) will make his first start of the season for the Dust Devils, while Andrew Moore (0-0) gets the start for Everett. Great seats are available by calling the Dust Devils' office at (509) 544-8789 or at www.dustdevilsbaseball.com.
