Wichita Thunder News Release
Wichita, KS- The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators and powered by Toyota, announced today that forward Alexis Loiseau has left the team to pursue an opportunity in Germany.
"This was a very difficult decision for Alexis," commented Head Coach Malcolm Cameron. "As it first came to my attention on Sunday evening, he wrestled with it for the past two days. The financial opportunity and the lighter schedule was just too attractive to turn down. We will retain his ECHL playing rights in case he decides to return next season or if things don't work out in Europe."
"While we are disappointed, it's never our intention to hold our players back when given an opportunity to enhance their career. It is very similar to when players are promoted to the American Hockey League."
Loiseau, 23, has played 30 games for the Thunder. The Havre-aux-Maisons, Quebec is in his second year as a pro.
"I really liked my time in Wichita," commented Loiseau. "It's a good place to play hockey, great group of guys and Malcolm is very good with everyone. It was a tough decision, but I had a great opportunity and I felt like it was the best choice for me and the rest of my career."
Wichita has a short break for the All-Star Game this week and will resume play on Friday night on the road against the Allen Americans starting at 7:05 p.m.
Individual tickets for all Thunder home games are now on sale. Tickets can be purchased at the INTRUST Arena Box office, by calling 855-755-SEAT or go online at www.selectaseat.com.
