Lock Monsters Extend Affiliation Agreement

Lowell, MA - In a press conference at City Hall today, the Lowell Lock Monsters announced that they have renewed their affiliation agreement with the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League (NHL) through the 2008-09 season. The five year agreement includes an option following each season for either team to opt out of the affiliation.

"We have been very happy with our Lowell affiliation for the past three seasons," said Hurricanes President and General Manager Jim Rutherford. "Tom Rowe does an excellent job with our young prospects and we look forward to continuing our relationship with the Lock Monsters."

Brian Martin, Lock Monsters team President said "The Lowell Lock Monsters are pleased with the Hurricanes affiliation extension and look forward to many successful seasons."

The Lock Monsters have served as the top developmental team for the Hurricanes for the last three seasons, working with younger prospects such as Pavel Brendl, Jaroslav Svoboda, Jesse Boulerice, Ryan Bayda, Mike Zigomanis, Allan Rourke and Bruno St. Jacques.

Carolina Hurricanes Weekend sponsored by Mill City Properties, Lowell

Once again, the Lowell Lock Monsters will raffle off a weekend for two for all season ticket holders who pay in full by June 30th. Last season, season ticket holders Mark Blair and Patricia Dicesare enjoyed a weekend stay in Carolina, including airfare, hotel accommodations and tickets to the Hurricanes vs. Bruins game as winners of the 02-03 Hurricanes Weekend contest. All accounts paid in full by June 30th will be entered to win, with the drawing to be held during this year's Fan Fest!

Lock Monsters and the Walk for CancerCare

The Lock Monsters have teamed up with the Lowell Spinners and Lowell General Hospital to take part in the Walk for CancerCare. The walk, scheduled for May 16th, will raise money for The Cancer Center at Lowell General Hospital. Here's how you can be part of the team....
